Bertie Pearce
Wonder Workers and the Art of Illusion
Event Details
Following the Government’s announcements of 16 March, Codsall Arts Festival Committee has agreed with Bertie Pearce that the performance on Thurs 26th March will not take place due to circumstances beyond our control (coronavirus).
From the beginning of time right up to today’s Harry Potter, people have always been in awe of magic. How lucky Codsall is to have attracted one of the foremost illusionists of the day!
Bertie Pearce is a Member of The Inner Magic Circle. He inherited a fascination with conjuring from his maternal grandfather. With a BA (Hons) in Drama from Manchester University he went on to the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He has performed all over the world from Hollywood, St Moritz to the Bertie and Boo café in Balham. Bertie is an accredited Arts Society (formerly Nadfas) lecturer and has toured extensively as a speaker sharing his passion for illusion, Victorian pastimes, Punch and Judy and Charles Dickens.
Bertie’s love of people and performance ensures that there is always a new and exciting gig around the corner.
“…in which it is the very trickery that pleases me. But show me how the trick is done, and I have lost my interest therein.” – Seneca (3BC-65AD)
“The hard part for me is balancing the serious with the flippant and magical.” – Bertie Pearce
