Meet the Auctioneer
Following the Government’s announcements of 16 March, Codsall Arts Festival Committee has agreed with Charles Hanson that the performance on Thurs 2nd April will not take place due to circumstances beyond our control (coronavirus).
Throughout the country, Charles Hanson, with his infectious enthusiasm, is held in great affection by lovers of antiques. It is a delight to welcome him to Codsall Community Arts Festival in what promises to be an informative and entertaining evening.
Antiques expert, auctioneer and media personality Charles has fans across the world thanks to his appearances on television shows such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip.
His passion for history emerged when he was only eight years old and having taken an interest in metal detecting, one of his earliest finds was a Charles I coin.
Charles’s working life began at Christie’s in London. In time he went on to launch Hansons Auctioneers in his home county of Derbyshire. His business has since expanded to London and Staffordshire.
He thrives on the drama, passion and excitement of the salesroom and has made numerous finds that have hit the headlines. Particularly memorable were Queen Victoria’s bloomers, an original Harry Corbett Sooty puppet and a rare Chinese vase, used as a doorstop, which sold for £650,000.
Tonight, Charles will be pleased to offer valuations from a selection of small items which the audience is invited to bring along. Please bring only one item per person!
