Following the Government’s announcements of 16 March, Codsall Arts Festival Committee has agreed with Doreen Tipton that the performance on Sat 28th March will not take place due to circumstances beyond our control (coronavirus).
In this one-off special for Codsall Community Arts Festival, local legend Doreen presents a collection of some of her favourite moments, sketches and videos from the past five years of doing her one-woman shows. A great intro to Doreen if you’ve never seen her live before, and a varied feast of favourite funny memories for ardent fans. Either way, you’ll do some loffin’.
Doreen was the first person ever to be diagnosed with Lazy Cow Syndrome. Despite this, she has become a national treasure – at least regionally – and over the past few years she has morphed effortlessly from YouTube sensation to Queen of the Black Country.
Somehow, under the guise of being a lazy cow, she’s managed to complete six sell-out theatre tours, a Doreen movie (featuring rock legend Robert Plant, no less), an autobiography ‘From Rug-Rats to Riches’ (which was an instant best-seller in her mother’s nursing home), a documentary DVD on the Black Country, as well as being voted Best Newcomer at the Great British Panto Awards and Midlands Personality of the Year by What’s On readers.
Now, in an idle moment, she has just published her first children’s book – so watch out David Walliams! It’s called The Giant Panteater, and Other Curious Creatures, and it’s a series of beautifully illustrated quirky poems. Reviewing the book recently, the lovely Debbie McGee said: “Doreen has found a way to bring intelligent humour to children in an educating but entertaining way. I couldn’t put it down. It’s fabulous in every way!” You can find more details on the new children’s website: www.doreenforkids.weebly.com
