History of the festival

Codsall Community Arts Festival began in 1978 and has been a biennial event ever since. The first Festival was a weekend event based on the facilities at Codsall Community High School, which remains its base today. The length and scope of the Festival grew over the years until it reached its present length of about two weeks.  Following the AGM in 2021 it was retitled as Codsall Festival.

The Aim

The aim of the Festival is to bring local, national and, where possible, international talent to the area and to cater for the range of interests within the community. The Festival therefore encompasses theatre, classical music, jazz, light music, dance, literature, crafts, and talks and demonstrations on a range of activities. There are also workshops and competitions to involve local people of all ages.

Support & sponsors

Throughout its existence the Festival has received invaluable support from many sponsors, who include local public and private organisations, businesses, charitable trusts and individuals. The Codsall Community Arts Festival Association is a registered charity. Membership of the Association is available to individuals. The Festival’s committee consists of volunteers, and these are supported by other members who help out with specific activities during Festivals.

Something for everyone

The geographical range of the Festival reflects the former catchment area of Codsall High School which includes Codsall, Bilbrook, Brewood, Patshull, Pattingham, Perton and some areas of Wolverhampton. The Executive Headteacher of Codsall Community High School is Honorary President of the Association.
